California is a haven for creative inspiration.

I came across a handful of paintings by Dan Berkeland of a eucalyptus grove in Montana de Oro, along California’s central coast. Dan’s study of light and use of color is spot on. So, when we drifted north this past weekend for wine and sunshine, we decided to camp just outside of the same eucalyptus grove.

Early light in the forest was warm and delicate. The long exposures creates tension and play between what is and is not in focus.

Thanks for the inspiration Dan!
