Sebastião Salgado is a master monochrome storyteller. In his recent work Genesis, Salgado devoted eight years scouring earth’s wild recesses to find, photograph and return from places where life persists out of modern reach.

In a separate body of work, Salgado photographed this Huli man in the Hademari village. The Huli man is wearing a decorative wig woven with human hair. The hair is the wigman’s own, grown over many months while living in isolation from the rest of the community located in the fertile southern highland province of Papua New Guinea.
